The Research Group of Close Range Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing of the University of Vigo, included in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Engineering, is one of the basic pieces which justify the scientific and research interest of the PhD Programme. Its components, actively involved in the research, development and innovation, guarantee the link with the scientific and professional sector.

Through the active research lines which develop this groups there are international, national and regional projects and they take part in research contracts with other institutions and companies.

On the other hand, the Department of Cartographic and Terrain Engineering, including in the Polytechnic School of Ávila, holds most of the organisational and teaching responsibilities of the Master’s Degree in the Third Cycle Programme “Research and Development in Geotechnologies” Eight of the teaching staff members of the Master’s Degree also teach in this Programme. This situation eases the connection of the Master’s Degree teaching programme with the research activity. The participation of those teachers in open research lines in the international scientific and technological community guarantees that all the developments (of great interest) in this sector are incorporated to the Teaching Programme.
The group TIDOP (Information Technologies for Heritage Documentation) of the University of Salamanca, which takes part in the PhD Programme proposal, is part of this department.
